Our team of academics is trained in the elaboration of proposals related to urban matters, like master-plan, evaluation of historic monuments, project design, strategic development plans, city management, etc. Although within the “DUC” exist a variety of specialist, other institutions or professionals are invited to join to offer a wider view to a specific topic.
Investigation
An important activity of the “DUC” is the documentation and investigation in architecture and urbanism. It is of special concern, to document and investigate the historic forms of living, its expression in architecture and its impact as heritage in today’s context. All the results of these investigations are of free access to the public.

Specialized tours of Valparaiso
The “DUC” offers, within its public activities, tours through Valparaiso which can be accommodated to the specific interest of the participant, orientated towards the visitor in search for a cultural, historical, touristy and social context of town. Each of these programs is guided by a specialist, who will share with the visitor the state of discussion within the “DUC” generated by investigation, development of projects and exchange of information, which can make this visit an unique event.
Events and Expositions
The “DUC” is closely related to the social and cultural context of the city, orientating all activities towards the habitants of the city and the region. This orientation is focused in two directions, the local / regional artist, offering a space to converge with the local public, and for the public, inviting national and international artists, who until now did not have an adequate place of presentation.



		Academic and Expert Exchange program
	The “DUC” forms part of different academic and scientific networks to link Universities and Cultural Institutions to Valparaíso, promoting collaboration and exchange programs. In the upper floors of building one and two, the “DUC” offers 18 studio-type apartments to host groups of academic visitors or professionals in exchange programs with the workshops in the ground floor. For students and young academics, we offer a professional practice of 2 – 6 months in our consulting department, including a free lodging for the practitioner.
Meetings and Seminaries
The “DUC” provides the space for reflection about concepts, operations and interventions related to urban matters and to generate a conceptional background and methodology for the framework of urban development seen from a local and contemporary perspective.
